Description
Wickham Cottage is an early 18th-century house located on the Green in Biddestone. It is constructed of rubble stone with a stone-tiled roof and an east-end stack. The two-storey, three-window facade features recessed hollow-chamfered mullion windows. The upper floor has two two-light windows and one three-light window, with the centre and ground floor three-light windows being renewed. There is a two-light window and a three-light window on the ground floor, both under a continuous hoodmould. A door sits within a moulded flush doorcase with a hood on brackets, alongside a renewed casement window with a timber lintel. Most of the small-paned windows have been replaced. Older photographs indicate that the upper floor previously featured two two-light windows with a blank panel between them. The group value of Wickham Cottage is as a well-preserved example of an early 18th-century rural dwelling.
