Description

The barn at Poplar Farm is a C17 building, rebuilt in the C19. It is constructed of rubble stone with a stone slate roof, featuring half-hipped gables. The barn has six bays, with a two-storey addition to the south. Double-planked doors are located at opposing entries. A C20 garage door has been inserted into the south part of the barn. The gable end contains a two-light ovolo-mullioned casement window on the ground floor and a two-light cyma-mullioned casement window to the first floor. Pigeon holes indicative of a former dovecote are visible in the gable. The interior of the main barn has a C19 king post roof with twin angle struts. The first floor of the dovecote now houses a local history collection.
