Description

28, The Pound is a house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof with stone slates at the eaves, coped gables, and end stacks. The building stands two storeys high with an attic and has a three-window range. Notable architectural details include ashlar flush quoins, a raised band, and a beaded central door surround that frames a six-panel door, which is topped with a hood supported by brackets and features keystones and sills for the sixteen-pane sash windows. The ground floor openings have cambered heads, and there is a pair of leaded attic casements in the east end wall. A 20th-century rear extension has been added.
