Description
A row of three houses located on East Street in Lacock, dating primarily from the late 18th century with early 19th-century alterations to the refronting of numbers 10 and 11. The construction is of rubble stone, with stone slate roofs and end stacks. The houses are two storeys and have attics. Number 9 appears to be the earliest part of the row, with numbers 10 and 11 subsequently refronted to match its style. Number 9 has two gabled dormers and a three-window main range, displaying flush quoins and a dripcourse that steps up to the sill of the upper windows. It features cyma-moulded flush mullion windows – three-light on each side, and a two-light window to the first floor centre, positioned above the front door, which is itself within a cyma-moulded surround. Numbers 10 and 11 are constructed of squared rubble stone and are double-fronted, lacking the first-floor two-light window found on number 9. They are characterised by four hipped dormers, four three-light windows on each floor, and a dripcourse stepped over the central doors. Number 10 has a chamfered door surround and a stone hood supported by brackets, while number 11 features a cyma-moulded surround and a timber hood. The building is completed with two rear chimney gables. The interiors have not been inspected.
