Description
Beehive House is a detached cottage located on South Street in Great Wishford. It dates from the mid-17th century and was extended in the 1980s. The building features a combination of banded flint and limestone with a tiled roof that has a half hip on the right side and a brick chimney. It has an 'L' shape and is a single storey with an attic, having one window on the front facade.
To the left is a six-panelled door from the 17th century, while to the right, there is a three-light casement window and a three-light ovolo-mullioned casement window with a hoodmould. The full attic dormer on the right has a coped verge and features a three-light ovolo-mullioned casement with a hoodmould, along with a single-light chamfered light above it.
The right side of the building is constructed in Flemish bond brick and includes a 20th-century casement window on the first floor and a blocked doorway. The rear of the house has a single-light recessed chamfered casement and a two-light ovolo-mullioned casement on the ground floor, with a two-light 20th-century casement above. There are single-storey rear outbuildings that include a two-light wooden mullioned casement and a double Roman tiled roof, along with an attached 20th-century garage. To the left of the main house is a 20th-century artificial stone extension, which is not of special interest. The interior was not accessible during the survey conducted in August 1985.
