Description
Tudor Cottage is a detached cottage located on South Street in Great Wishford, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick with vitrified headers and features stone quoins, topped with a tiled roof and gable end brick stacks. The building is two stories high and has three windows with casements.
At the front, there is a chequered flint and stone plinth, and to the right, a 2-light recessed chamfered mullioned cellar casement. The central entrance features a 4-panelled door set in a chamfered stone surround, located within a gabled brick porch. On either side of the porch are 3-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements. A moulded string course runs along the first floor, where there are 3-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements flanking a central 2-light mullioned casement.
The left side of the cottage has a single recessed chamfered light on the first floor, and the roof has coped verges. The rear includes an outshut with a single recessed chamfered light and a planked door, along with a 2-light mullioned casement to the right and a half-hipped dormer above the outshut featuring a 2-light leaded casement.
Inside, the cottage boasts chamfered beams, an open fireplace with a chamfered lintel set on stone jambs that includes a bread oven, winding stairs leading to the outshut, and doors with two raised panels.
