Description

Wishford Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, rebuilt in the early 18th century, with alterations and an addition from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick with chamfered rusticated quoins and features a hipped tiled roof with brick stacks. The building has an 'L' plan and is two stories high with five windows, all of which are sash windows.

The central entrance consists of a 20th-century panelled door set within a plain ashlar architrave, topped with a pedimented hood supported by carved brackets. On either side of the door are two 4-pane sash windows in ashlar architraves with dropped keystones. A plat band runs along the first floor, which has five 4-pane sash windows, also in ashlar architraves with dropped keystones. The roof has a dentilled eaves cornice and two hipped dormers with 9-pane casements.

To the left of the main building is a single-bay mid-19th-century extension featuring 4-pane sash windows beneath an extended hipped roof. The left return has an external stack, a sash window, and casements, while the right return has one 4-pane sash window. The rear of the farmhouse includes a 17th-century limestone range that is rendered and has 20th-century casements.

Inside, the farmhouse features planked doors and chamfered beams with stepped stops in the rear range. The front of the house has doors with six fielded panels, a mid-18th-century staircase with three turned balusters per tread, a wide moulded handrail, and a panelled dado. The front is also accompanied by franking Flemish bond brick walls and dwarf brick walls with cast-iron spearhead railings along the street frontage.
