Description
A detached cottage dating from the 17th century, with an 18th-century addition, stands on the east side of South Street, Great Wishford. The cottage is constructed of square-panelled timber framing, partially rebuilt with flint and brick, and has a half-hipped thatched roof topped with a brick stack. A baffle-entry provides access. The main façade is single-storey with an attic, featuring three windows. It includes casement windows, a planked door with strap hinges within a thatched porch on the left, a three-light casement to the right, and a two-light casement to the left of the door. The attic has three two-light casements within raking dormers. The right return is built of flint and brick with a slate-hung attic, while the left return has a lean-to extension. The rear of the cottage features a brick lean-to extension and two dormers. The interior, which was inaccessible during a survey in August 1985, is described as having an open fireplace and chamfered beams, including stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. The left-hand bay of the cottage represents the 18th-century addition.
