Description

Nos 1, 2, 3, and 4 South Street are a row of four estate cottages built around 1860 for the Wilton Estate. They feature a combination of brick and flint bands, a Welsh slate roof, and brick stacks. The cottages are two stories high with four windows, all fitted with casements. The original entrance doors are four-panelled and located on the sides, each with a gabled slate canopy. In the center, there is a hipped slate porch supported by posts, flanked by two 2-light casements that have cambered brick heads. On the first floor, there are four 2-light casements, also with cambered brick heads. The right and left sides of the cottages have modern lean-to extensions. The rear of the building has similar casements. The interior has not been inspected, but the cottages are noted as a well-preserved example of Wilton Estate architecture in the area.
