Description

The Old Coach House is a former coach house, now a house, dating from the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed of rubblestone with ashlar detailing and features a double Roman tiled hipped roof. The building forms a courtyard that is enclosed on three sides and is single storey with an attic, consisting of a three-bay central block.

On the sides, there are two semi-elliptical arches with raised voussoirs, keystones, and imposts, connected by a band; the left side has a garage door while the right side contains a round-arched window. The central section features a round-headed window with a keystone and imposts, which includes two round-arched lights and a blind oculus above. The central gable has a blind oculus with keystones, and there is a cornice at the eaves and gable.

Above the gable, there is a wooden hexagonal cupola. The wings on either side of the central block are set back and each has an oculus in the gables; the left wing has a 16-pane sash window on the ground floor. The right return features a central pointed arched door flanked by pointed windows, while the rear of this wing has all 20th-century windows. The rear of the left wing includes three elliptical arches leading to an open carriage shed. The central block has four gun-port-type windows at the top of the wall and a square-headed carriage entry to the right. The interior has not been inspected. A low balustrade with ball finials is attached to the fourth side of the courtyard. The building has been recently renovated.
