Description
Tanhouse Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century. It features square panel timber-framing with brick infill, while the rear wings are constructed of rubblestone. The roof is double Roman tiled, with coped verges and a saddlestone, and there are brick stacks. The building has a two-room plan with a lobby entry, consisting of two bays with an addition to the right and wings at the rear. It is two stories high and has two windows. The door, located to the left of center, is sheltered by a wooden latticed porch with a canopy. On either side of the door are three-light wooden casements. The first floor includes one three-light and one four-light casement. The timber framing shows wind bracing. To the right, there is a rendered rubblestone bay that continues around the right return. At the rear, there are two projecting wings with wooden casements and a central 20th-century extension. The interior is not accessible.
