Description
Forest Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse located on the north side of Woodrow Road, Melksham Without. The building is constructed of coursed rubble stone and has an oak shingle mansard roof with coped verges and a saddlestone. It features ashlar axial stacks. Originally, it was a two-story, two-window farmhouse. A 20th-century verandah obscures the original entrance doors. A 19th-century rubblestone lean-to extension adjoins the left side of the building. The first-floor windows are two-light, cyma-mullioned casements. The left return displays one two-light, cyma-mullioned casement on both the ground and first floors, along with a single blocked attic window. The right return incorporates an abutting 18th-century rubblestone dairy and one two-light, cyma-mullioned casement on the first floor. The rear elevation has a door with a chamfered case and flat stone hood supported by brackets, situated to the right of the centre, flanked by two-light, cyma-mullioned casement windows. Four two-light, cyma-mullioned casements are present on the first floor of the rear. The interior was inaccessible when the building was surveyed.
