Description

The stables at Beechfield House, built around 1870 for Richard Keevil, now serve as an annex for a hotel. The building features ashlar front and side elevations, while the rear is finished in hammer-dressed stone. It has rusticated quoins and a decorated Welsh slate roof adorned with iron cresting and finials, reflecting the Italianate style of the main house.

This single-storey structure includes a gabled attic and has an asymmetrical front. The slightly projecting gabled center contains a central round-arched door flanked by round-arched sashes, all featuring keystones and hood moulds, connected by a continuous string course. Above the central gable, there is a 2-light sash window.

To the left of the center, there is a round-arched entrance and two elliptical arches separated by rusticated piers. To the right of the central gable, an elliptical arch is accompanied by three round-headed sashes, with a string course above. A 2-light attic gable has been added to the right, designed to match the one on the left of the center, both featuring keys, carved hood moulds, and rusticated quoins.

The left return has a single-storey section with two inserted 20th-century round-arched sashes, while the right return has one plain sash. The rear also includes 20th-century round-headed sashes. The interior openings have been preserved during the conversion from stables to hotel accommodation.
