Description

The Croft is a house dating to the 17th century, with significant alterations in the mid-18th century. Originally a timber-framed cottage, it was later brick-faced and has a thatched roof. It began as a two-bay cottage with its gable facing the road, but the nearest bay was rebuilt and extended to the left in the 18th century, creating a two-storey, five-bay farmhouse with a cellar beneath the left bay. The central door is a 6-panel design with a 20th-century porch raised on three steps. The main elevation has four bays, marked by a plat band and header blue brick bond between the windows. The fifth window bay was added later, replacing the original cottage bay. The windows are timber, with 2 and 3 lights, some with brick lintels, and some are blocked. Inside, the original cottage stack remains, and a former oven has been removed. The interior includes spine beams with run-out stops.
