Description

Cruses Cottage is a cottage dating from the 17th to 18th centuries. The brickwork is likely replacing an earlier timber frame, and the roof is thatched. The cottage is single-storey with an attic, and has three bays. A central door is positioned opposite a 17th-century brick stack, with a thatched canopy over the door, which features panelling. An earlier door in the end gable has been removed, but was probably not the original. Timber casement windows are present. The building likely follows a lobby entry plan, with two bays extended to the left by one bay. A 20th-century rear extension has been added. Inside, the stack contains a brick oven and there are chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. There are scratch carvings on the fire lintel and timber-framed partitions to the first floor.
