Description
Church Cottages are two houses that were formerly a Poor Law house, dating from the 17th to 18th century. They feature diaper brickwork with a rendered base and a thatched roof. The cottages are single storey with an attic, comprising three bays, and have a later rear wing on the right as well as a 20th-century rear extension. There is a central door accessed by three steps. The windows are timber casements, all with segmental heads. The building has external gable stacks, with the left stack enclosed by a later lean-to outshut that has a blocked door. The thatch extends over three dormers and is hipped. There is a sun insurance sign numbered 227746. Inside, the cottages have spine beams. The building is situated in an important location by the village pond and is listed for its group value.
