Description
Merrythatch is a farmhouse that has been converted into a cottage, dating from the 17th century, specifically 1621. It features a timber frame with brick and wattle and daub infill, topped with a half hipped thatched roof. The building consists of three and a half bays, with a lobby entry located in the half bay, positioned end on to the street. It is one storey high with an attic. The framing includes corner braces, timber casement windows, and dormers. Inside, there is a stone stack with a timber overmantle beam, although the interior has not been inspected. Additionally, there is a cast iron slurry pump located in the yard, 20 meters east of the cottage, which was used for a former cowhouse.
