Description
Smith's Farm is a Grade II listed farmhouse that was originally three cottages, dating from the 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and brick infill, topped with a 20th-century tiled roof. The building features four bays that alternate between wide and narrow, with an additional bay on the right that is also part timber framed. There is a gable stack and a major stack located in the end narrow bay, which also serves the added bay. The entrance is at the rear in the first narrow bay, although entrances to the three original cottages are still visible on the front. The framing consists of square panels three high with straight corner braces, and the frame is raised by one panel on the front.
Inside, the farmhouse has deep chamfered spine beams with bar stops present only in the first wide bay. There is a stair door made of 17th-century panelling, and large stone fireplaces that are now covered over.
