Description
The cast iron lamp standard at the west front of the Tabernacle dates from around the 1880s. It is a solitary lamp post featuring a square lantern. The lamp stands on a high moulded plinth with a star plan arris that has Tudor stops. The stem of the lamp was formerly decorated with Tudor roses. The lantern basket includes wrought iron fleur de lys and crenellations, all supported by a twisted stand. This lamp standard is part of a group that includes the former Sunday School, known as the 'Institute,' to the east, as well as the Tabernacle United Reformed Church and the adjacent structures at Nos 24 to 26 and 2 and 3 Tabernacle Cottages.
