Description
24 Church Street is a mid-19th century, two-storey brick building featuring raised stone-pier strips and a stone band with brackets at the eaves. The building has plain stone surrounds for its one-over-two glazing bar sash windows, which have marginned glazing on the first floor. The single ground floor window has been altered, and there is a central 20th-century shop front with a large opening and recessed double doors to the left. The roof is covered with pantiles and has a large chimney stack on the east gable. At the rear, there is a two-storey extension. This building is part of a group that includes the former Sunday School, the former 'Institute' to the east, The Tabernacle United Reformed Church, and related structures, along with Nos 24 to 26 (consecutive) and 2 and 3 Tabernacle Cottages.
