CHURCH STREET 1. 5411 (North Side) Entrance Screen to ST 8558 5/8E the Tabernacle

Circa l880's. Large central and 2 subsiduary gateways. A mixture of mediaeval Styles. Gable to centre, 4 centre arch with traceried oculus over and scroll above inscribed 'The Tabernacle AD...(obscured)", 2 nook shafts and buttresses. Flanking arcades linking to side gateways which have pointed arches on nooks shafts, string course and flat parapet over. Fine cast and wrought iron gates; pierced plate bases; flowers with scrolled stems above and plate leaves below top bars; fleurs-de-lvs on top rail.

Former Sunday School former 'Institute' to east, The Tabernacle United Reformed Church and related structures form a group with Nos 24 to 26 (consec) and 2 and 3 Tabernacle Cottages.
