Description

This is a 17th-century building on Bridewell Street, which was altered in the 18th century and subsequently. It comprises two houses, numbered 24 and 26. The building is timber-framed with rendered exterior. The first floor is jettied, supported by brackets beneath boxed beams. It has a gable end slate roof. The first floor has four square, recessed sash windows with glazing bars, and a moulded edge to the window reveals. Each house has a ground floor window and a four-panel door; the door of number 24 was replaced in the late 19th century. A large yard entrance is situated between the houses, to the left of the centre. A timber frame is visible at the rear, with brick infilling and a section of pantile roof, along with four 18th-century windows. Nos 23 to 31 form a group.
