Description
Thornhill Cottage is a house, originally two cottages, built in 1791. The date is inscribed on a stone below the eaves. The house is constructed of Flemish bond brick with stone quoins; the ground floor is rendered and the roof is covered in Bridgwater tiles, with brick stacks. It is two storeys, with a five-window façade. There are two good doors with six fielded panels, set within cyma-moulded surrounds with flat stone hoods on brackets. Two 2-light, cyma-mullioned casements are present centrally, with one to each side. A straight joint with quoins marks the original division between the two cottages. A stone plat band runs along the first floor. Two 2-light, cyma-mullioned casements are on the left-hand side, while the right-hand side has a 12-pane fixed window above the door, within a round-arched surround with imposts and a keystone, flanked by 2-light mullioned casements. The rear elevation features 2-light mullioned casements. The interior was inaccessible when surveyed in December 1986.
