Description
Lorne Cottage is a semi-detached house built in the mid-19th century. It features Flemish bond brickwork and a Welsh slate roof with brick stacks. The house is positioned as a parallel range to the rear of The Linnett, with the entrance located on the gable end. It is two stories high and has two windows. The front includes a four-panelled door with a canted bay to the right, while the first floor has two sash windows with segmental heads. The decorative barge boards are pierced and match those of the inn to the left. The right side of the house has segmental-headed sash windows on both the ground and first floors, with gables featuring barge boards above the latter. The interior retains original fittings. The front garden is enclosed by stone dwarf walls topped with good spearhead railings and a matching gate, along with stone rusticated gate piers that have weathered tops and are inscribed with the name LORNE COTTAGE.
