Description

The Grange is a mid-19th century large suburban villa built in a late classical and Italianate style. It is constructed of ashlar and extends over two storeys. The asymmetrical design incorporates a service wing at the rear. The main entrance front features a central projecting porch supported by double piers with Corinthian capitals extending to a dentil cornice and blocking course. A band runs above the ground floor. The windows are late-glazed sashes. A central first-floor window, set within a panel and flanked by two sets of Corinthian pilasters, rises to a parapet above the porch. The south front boasts a large two-storey three-light bow to the left, featuring French windows on the ground floor with architraves and scrolled brackets to the band. Pilasters adorn the first-floor windows. The west front exhibits grouped round-headed windows on the first floor, a ground-floor conservatory, and a large flat bow to the left. The building is capped with low-pitched hipped slate roofs and wide eaves.
