Description
This is a late 18th-century public house, formerly known as the King Athelstan Inn, that has been altered and is now a shop. It is located to the rear of number 28 High Street in Malmesbury. The building is constructed of limestone rubble with limestone dressings, brick window surrounds, and a party wall stack, with a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and an attic, with a three-window front that is almost symmetrical. The ground floor originally featured a carriage arch with a cambered head, now altered. The first floor has 6/6-pane sash windows in exposed boxes. The attic has flat-headed 6-pane windows. In the mid-20th century, the ground floor was opened up to create a shop in conjunction with number 28 High Street.
