Description
This building, located to the rear of Number 30 High Street in Malmesbury, was formerly known as the stables for the adjoining King Athelstan Inn. It dates from the late 18th century to the early 19th century and is constructed of limestone rubble with dressings, featuring brick window heads and a stone slate roof. The structure is two storeys high with an attic and has a three-window range. The ground floor has been altered with a modern office front, while the first-floor openings have cambered, keyed brick heads. The northern section has a continuous roof from the former pub and includes two first-floor windows with 20th-century casements. The later southern section has a lower ridge and a single left-hand window, with two-light attic casements above the outer windows, and former hoist doorways with timber lintels to the left of centre. The interior has not been inspected.
