Description

A pair of early 19th-century houses, located on Cross Hayes in Malmesbury. The houses are constructed of coursed, squared limestone rubble, with an ashlar party wall stack. The roofs are a combination of stone slate and interlocking tiles. The buildings are double-depth and arranged over two storeys and an attic, with a 2:1-window arrangement.

A low plinth is visible, and the left-hand doorways have timber lintels, each with a half-glazed door. Number 40 features a ground-floor plate-glass shop window alongside two first-floor casements. Number 42 has a plate-glass sash window set in a flush box, and a first-floor casement. Two gabled dormers with casements are visible in the roof. The interior has not been inspected.
