Description
Kingsmead Mill is a mill and mill house, now converted into a house, dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It is constructed of painted rubble stone and painted brick, topped with stone slate roofs. The three-storey mill features coped gables, a south side stack, a large 20th-century hipped dormer, and an added two-storey range with a lean-to roof on the south front. This added range has a three-window front with pairs of cambered-head casements, a central door, and a loading door on the east side wall. To the right, the original mill has two 20th-century French windows on the ground floor, two pairs of cambered-head casements on the first floor, and one casement pair on the second floor. The attached mill house to the right is two storeys with an attic and a high mansard roof, featuring ridge and east end stacks and two hipped dormers. Its three-window front consists of 16-pane sashes with a central half-glazed door; the left bay is made of painted stone, while the rest is painted brick.
