Description

The gates to Chilton Lodge, dating from around 1800, consist of gate piers, gates, and railings. They are made of brick with a stone cornice. There are four piers, with every sixth course recessed, and the two central piers feature panels. The cornice is topped with garlanded urns set on a plinth. The wrought iron gates and overthrow are complemented by three panels of ironwork on the wing walls, which curve forward and step down to the terminal piers. The walls also have stone copings. This entrance leads to Chilton Lodge in Berkshire.
