Description
The Homestead is a cottage dating from the 17th century, constructed with a timber frame and rendered panels, topped with a pantiled roof. Originally a single storey with an attic, it was likely raised to two storeys in the 18th century. The main living bay features a stone-built gable with a stack, and there is an inner room that may have originally served as the entrance. The door is now located at the low end of the living room, with a second entrance in the gable. It has a six-panelled fielded and panelled door with a flat canopy supported by cut brackets. The cottage also has 19th-century timber casement windows. The framing consists of three panels high, with a fourth panel added in lighter framing. At the rear, there is a parallel 20th-century block. Inside, the living room includes a chamfered spine beam and an open fireplace with an oven, along with a timber fire lintel.
