Description

A mid-19th century house and shop, situated on the south side of Lode Hill. The building is constructed of Flemish bond brick, with a tiled roof and an axial brick stack. It has an L-shaped plan, with an entrance on Slab Lane. The front facade is two storeys high and features two windows. A 19th-century shop front is located on the left side, with a glazed door, and a four-panelled door to the right. Above the doors is a modillioned segmental pediment with a cornice. The right side of the front has a single nine-pane sash window. The first floor has two nine-pane sash windows. The left return, which is a gable end facing Lode Hill, has a 19th-century shop front within a stucco surround. The gable features wavy bargeboards. The rear of the building contains nine-pane sash windows and an early 20th-century wing with sash windows. The right return has a single nine-pane sash window on both the ground and first floors, and also has wavy bargeboards to the gable. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
