3/51 Rose Cottage and cottage adjoining

Row of four estate cottages, now two, early C19, extended c1850-60 for the Neeld estate. Coursed rubble stone with stone slate roofs and two ashlar stacks on main ridge. Two storeys. Centre is original 3-window range with sashes in ashlar surrounds, 9-pane above, 12-pane to ground floor each side. Ground floor centre has shallow canted bay 4:16:4-pane closely flanked by doors in flush ashlar surrounds with hoods on brackets. At each end c1850-60 wings project with barge boarded gables, shield plaques and cast- iron lattice glazed casements with hoodmoulds, 2-light above, 3- light below. Side walls had open ashlar porches with barge boards, chamfered piers and depressed arches, west side porch survives, east side has hood on brackets replacing.
