Description
An 18th-century barn and attached cartshed stand to the south east of Moot Farmhouse. The barn is constructed of English bond brick, while the cartshed features a flint and brick west wall. Both buildings have tiled, half-hipped roofs. The barn is five bays long and the cartshed is three bays long, attached to the north and aligned on the same axis. The barn has a gabled brick porch on its east side with double doors, opposing C20 garage doors on the west side, a planked door to the left, and a loft door on the right return. The north bay of the barn is weatherboarded, displaying timber framing. The cartshed is open-fronted on its east side, facing the farmyard. Inside the barn, the five-bay roof features tie-beams, vertical struts to the collar, and clasped purlins. The cartshed’s three-bay roof is similarly constructed with tie-beams, vertical struts to the collar, and clasped purlins. Both buildings have been rebuilt; the barn was formerly timber-framed, and the cartshed was rebuilt in the 19th century.
