Description
No 14 High Street is a house in a row, dating from the early to late 18th century. It features mathematical tiles on the front in 'header bond', a tiled roof, and a brick stack on the right. The building is two stories tall with a three-window front. There is a six-panelled door in a beaded case with a flat wooden hood on brackets located to the right of the center. To the right of the door is a two-story canted bay with 16-pane sash windows, while to the left are two 12-pane sashes on both the ground and first floors. At the rear, there is an outshut with two gables and one hipped roof, which includes two-light casements and a 12-pane sash window, along with a planked door.
Inside, the house has a through-passage with two blind elliptical arches on the right wall. There is a mid-18th century fireplace featuring a moulded mantel and frieze with a leaf spray design. The late 18th century stairs include a 19th century Gothic-style dog-gate at the top.
