Description

This is an early 18th-century building, originally two cottages, now combined into a shop. Around 1800, outshuts were added, and 20th-century alterations have also been made. The building is constructed of Flemish bond brickwork, with a hipped thatched roof and a brick stack. It has two storeys and originally four windows. The ground floor now features two 20th-century doors with canopies and three 20th-century bow windows. The first floor has four 2-light leaded casement windows. The left cottage exhibits diaper patterns formed from vitrified brick headers, while the cottage to the right has a three-brick plat band at first-floor level. The rear of the building contains 20th-century casement windows and two eyebrow dormers. Inside, there are chamfered spine beams with run-out stops and ogee stops; the left cottage retains an open fireplace with a chamfered lintel on brick jambs and planked doors.
