Description
The Wellington Arms is an early 19th-century building that features a front added to an older structure. It stands three stories tall and is constructed of stucco, with rusticated quoins on the upper part. The roof is made of slate. The second floor has two windows, while the first floor has a central two-storey angular bay window, one window to the right, and two windows along with two modern doors flanking the bay window on the ground floor. There is a yard entry on the right-hand side. Part of the building has a timber frame with brick infilling. To the right, there is a shop belonging to Vincent Head, Tailor, which is also under the same roof and extends to a separate stucco building with a hipped old tile roof. These structures connect with Maison Joyce, a hairdresser. Although all the windows have been altered and poor modern shop windows have been inserted, they collectively hold picturesque value as part of a group. The buildings from Nos 42 to 64, along with St Peter and St Paul's Church, and Nos 65 to 85, The Sun Public House, and Nos 88 to 90, form a cohesive group.
