Description
Ivy House Hotel is an 18th-century building located on the south side of High Street. It is a two-storey structure with an attic over a basement, constructed of brick and topped with a mansard roof covered in old tiles. The façade features three gabled dormer windows with small sash frames. On the first floor, there are two Palladian windows flanking a central single window, along with an additional single arched window to the right, all showcasing an interlacing 'gothic' glazing pattern. The ground floor includes two three-light windows set in segmental arches and a central six-panel door situated in a plain arched recess, which is adorned with a fanlight that also features the 'gothic' glazing pattern and a small central lantern. The wooden doorcase is supported by semi-engaged Doric columns and is topped with a broken entablature that has a fluted frieze, a dentilled cornice, and a moulded dentilled open pediment. To the right, there is an arched yard entry with a similar fanlight above. The basement has two windows with lead glazing bars. Ivy House Hotel is part of a group that includes Nos 42 to 64, St Peter and St Paul's Church, and Nos 65 to 85, The Sun Public House, and Nos 88 to 90.
