Description

This is a section of wall forming part of the former stableyard of St Peter’s Rectory, dating from the early to mid 18th century. The wall is constructed of nodular flint with an ashlar coping. It returns in the centre to a gateway leading into the stableyard. The gateway is flanked by two brick piers topped with ashlar caps, which support an ashlar four-centred arch resting on corbels. There are three doorways with pointed arches. The wall forms a group with numbers 42 to 64, St Peter and St Paul's Church, numbers 65 to 85, The Sun Public House, and numbers 88 to 90.
