Description

The Wastfield monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 13 meters south-south-east of the Sweatman monument, north of the north transept of the Church of St. Bartholomew. This mid-18th century tomb is made of ashlar stone and features two shield plaques on each side. It has fielded piers at the center and corners, a moulded base, and a cornice with a pulvinated frieze that is broken forward over the piers. The end plaques also display shields. The inscription commemorates W. Wastfield.
