Description
The stables and carriage house with a former chapel at Donhead Hall is a mid-18th century building constructed from dressed limestone and topped with a hipped tiled roof. It is arranged in an L-plan and is a single storey with a five-bay south front. This facade features four round-arched windows with keystones and imposts; the two windows on the right, which light the chapel, have Y tracery and diamond leading, while the rightmost window is part of a blocked doorway. To the left are two smaller pivot-hung windows, and there is a 19th-century gabled loft door on the left. The right side of the building has a planked door set in a round-arched opening, flanked by round-arched windows with Y tracery, keystones, and an impost band. At the rear, the carriage house includes three elliptical-headed openings and one round-arched window to the left. Inside, the stables retain cast iron and timber stalls and loose boxes. The chapel, located at the east end of the range, has a boarded ceiling and previously featured panelling and an organ. The building is currently disused.
