Description

No. 30 is a detached cottage located on The Street in Broughton Gifford, dating from around 1700, with an extension added to the left in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of rubble stone and features a stone slate roof with gable end concrete stacks, as well as a brick and stone stack at the former left gable end of the original range. It has an L-shaped plan and is two stories tall with five windows.

The front includes a half-glazed door with a flat stone hood supported by brackets, which is part of the 19th-century addition on the left. To the left of the door are a pair of 12-pane sash windows, a three-light casement, a blocked doorway, and a two-light cyma-mullioned casement on the right. On the first floor, there is a pair of sash windows and a 20th-century casement to the left, along with three two-light cyma-mullioned casements to the right. The rear of the cottage features replacement wooden casements and a gabled wing to the left with a 20th-century extension.

Inside the early section of the cottage, there are chamfered beams and an open fireplace with a chamfered lintel that has curved corners on stone jambs. A timber-framed wall with some reused timbers and brick nogging is present at the former gable end, located between the early build and the 19th-century bay addition, along with plank doors.
