Description

Number 15 on High Street is a mid-19th century building located at the junction of High Street and St John's Street, serving as a prominent feature at the end of Long Street. It has two storeys, an attic, and a basement, constructed from Bath stone and set on a projecting splayed plinth. The building features a moulded string course above the ground and first-floor windows, and a parapet with moulded coping.

At the center, there is a curved gable with an ogee head, which has parapet coping that extends around it, topped with a carved and pierced finial. The attic contains a small casement window with a moulded stone surround, featuring a head made of two opposing inverted segments, a central mullion, and dividing arches that create three lights.

On the first floor, there are three large, nine-light, moulded stone mullioned and transomed casements. The ground floor has two similar windows, along with a central set of double doors made of two splayed panels, framed by a plain arched surround with a moulded band at the springing. This entrance is enhanced by an imposed porch supported by engaged Doric columns, which hold up a plain frieze and cornice that align with the first-floor string course.

Above each outer window, the parapet features panels of pierced quatrefoil design, with central cut circles crowned by pierced finials, along with cut stone side scrolls and secondary finials. The main entrance is accessed by a double flight of five steps and a bridge over the area, which is adorned with pierced stone balustrading.
