Description

The Elm Tree Inn is a 17th-century inn that has been altered and restored. It is two storeys high. The timber framework has been modernised, with brick and stucco infilling on the ground floor, and the upper part is pebbledashed and oversails. The exposed beam ends are boxed with a small, moulded cornice-string and are supported on heavy, modern brackets. There are three gables with modern barge boards and a moulded cornice across their bases. The roof is covered in modern pantile. The first floor has three two-light casements with drip moulds. On the ground floor, there is a three-light casement to the left, followed by an eight-panel door. This door has an alternate arrangement of two square panels and one long horizontal panel, with two loop holes and six squares. To the right of the doorway are one three-light, one two-light, and one two-light casement. The Elm Tree Inn forms a group with Greystone House on High Street.
