Description
Whitley Cottage is an 18th-century house located on Castle Street in Aldbourne. It is constructed of rubble stone with brick quoins and features a thatched roof. The building has one storey and an attic, consisting of two bays, with a timber-framed and rendered extension on the left that adds another two bays, which was originally a barn. The entrance is in the left bay of the house, featuring a 20th-century glazed door with a thatched canopy. The windows are timber casements with four and six lights, topped with segmental heads. There are paired windows on the first floor and S-ties. The former barn section has large 20-pane windows in what was once a cart entrance and a smaller window in the left bay. The house has stacks on the gable ends, with the one on the left being a later addition.
