Description
Milford Mill Bridge is a Grade I listed bridge over the River Bourne, dating from the late 15th century to early 16th century. It is constructed of dressed limestone and features two pairs of archways connected by a causeway. The western arch is semi-circular, while the other three arches are pointed. Between each pair of arches, there are cutwaters with weathered heads on both sides. At road level, there is a roll-moulded and hollow chamfered continuous string course, topped by a parapet with weathered 18th-century coping and square piers at each end. The bridge has stone revetment walls with weathered coping at both ends. The western part of the bridge is located in New Sarum civil parish. It is also recorded as an ancient monument in Wiltshire, numbered 276. The bridge was previously listed twice, but the duplicate record was removed on 24 May 2019. The remaining listing falls within the parishes of both Laverstock and Salisbury.
