Description
The Corsham Further Education Centre is a former school built in 1816, with additions made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble stone and features low hipped slate roofs. The rear section is the original 1816 building, which is a single storey and includes flush quoins, an ashlar plinth, and an eaves band. The windows are mullioned with cusped heads and hoodmoulds, consisting of two three-light windows on the north front to the left, two three-light windows on the east end, a door and three three-light windows on the rear, and a two-light and a three-light window on the west end.
On the right side of the north front, there is a projecting mid-19th century addition with a hipped roof. This addition features a projecting gabled porch with a moulded door surround, a Tudor-arched overlight, and a hoodmould. To the left of the porch is a single light window with a hoodmould, while to the right are two three-light mullion-and-transom windows, both with hoodmoulds. Between these windows is a plaque that reads, "This School Room for the instruction of poor children was erected by P.C. Methuen Esqr AD 1816." The west end of the addition has a two-light mullion-and-transom window, and the east end contains a single light and three-light windows, both with hoodmoulds.
