Description

The gatepiers to South Avenue of Corsham Court, dating from the early 18th century, are constructed from ashlar stone. They consist of two very large rusticated rectangular piers topped with moulded cornices and large ball finials that feature acanthus cupping. The inner faces of the piers have raised gatestops with moulded caps and a carved scroll above. The gates and railings were added in 1970. The east pier includes a carved scroll abutment that rests on a rubble stone wall.
