Description
No 4 South Place is a lodge to Corsham Court, built in the mid to later 19th century. It is constructed from pennant rubble stone with Bath stone dressings and features a slate roof with moulded stacks on the south and east side walls. The building is two storeys high and has an 'L'-shaped plan in a picturesque Tudor style.
The north end and the east and west ends of the crosswing have coped shouldered gables. The windows are set in chamfered stone frames and have iron lattice-glazed casements. The crosswing includes a ground floor two-light window beneath a heavily moulded ashlar projecting oriel with a curved top, which features the carved Methuen arms.
On the south side, there is a lean-to porch with a door on the east end, set in a shouldered surround with a cusped triangular overlight. The main range has an east front with a projected section at the angle to the crosswing, which includes a single light and, to the right, a one-window range of two-light windows.
