Description
No. 1 Station Road is a house dating from the early to mid 18th century, constructed from ashlar and rubble stone with a stone tiled roof and a coped west gable. The building has two storeys and an attic. The north front is made of ashlar and features a wallface stack, a coved eaves cornice, a string course, and a high plinth. It has channelled angle pilasters, one hipped dormer, and a three-window range of 12-pane sashes set in raised moulded surrounds, with the top right window being blank. There are three basement 2-light flush cyma-moulded windows.
The west end wall is also ashlar with channelled angle pilasters, featuring an attic casement pair within an architrave, a first-floor small Venetian window with a rusticated centre arch and keystone, and a string course above the ground floor. To the right is a 12-pane sash in a raised moulded surround, and to the left is a door set in a bead-moulded surround, recessed within a rusticated segmental arched doorway that has imposts, a keystone, and a pediment on brackets above. The entrance is accessed by two rounded steps. The east end wall includes a gable casement and a first-floor 2-light mullion window, which has an ovolo-moulded design with a cyma-moulded mullion, along with a ground floor 2-light flush cyma-moulded window.
